Remote Tailscale Setup on UniFi
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I need a seasoned network engineer who can remotely install and configure Tailscale on my UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra running UniFi OS 3.x/4.x. The plan is to use either the SierraSoftworks or UniFi-Utilities installation script over SSH and then turn the appliance into both a Subnet Router and an Exit Node.
Key points you should know:
• SSH access is not yet enabled on the gateway, so I will need your guidance to get that working first.
• Once connected, the installation must survive future UniFi firmware updates, which means setting up an on-boot script for persistence.
• After deployment the device has to appear in my Tailscale Admin Console, successfully route traffic, and prove it can act as an Exit Node.
• I’m unsure whether any extra tweaks—such as custom IP schemes, firewall changes, or DNS overrides—are really needed, so I’ll rely on your advice before we lock the configuration in.
The hardware sits on a JioFiber connection in Chennai while I’ll be coordinating with you from Malaysia, so all work has to be done entirely over a secure remote session.

– Tailscale installed via the chosen script
– Subnet Router + Exit Node roles configured and persistent
– End-to-end test results demonstrating successful routing through the gateway
