Network Engineer for ISP - 25/03/2026 18:49 EDT

Job ID: 40326120

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

Job Title: Network Engineer
Department: Network Operations
Hours: 8am to 5pm Pacific Time - Monday-Friday + On-Call Rotation
THIS IS A FULL TIME DEDICATED ROLE - STRONG PREFERENCE FOR US or CANADA BASED but will accept candidates worldwide with strong English and limited accent.

About Us
Atlas Networks is an independent Internet Service Provider based in Seattle, WA. We believe everyone deserves a reliable, affordable internet connection—without the nonsense. Our team thrives on our core values: Grit, Get S##t Done, Constructive Candor, and Continuous Evolution. We bring a mix of precision, personality, and professionalism to everything we do.

We’re looking for a Network Engineer who can move fluidly between tactical work (device provisioning, escalated support tickets, configuration changes) and strategic contributions (network design input, advanced troubleshooting, process optimization). If you’re as comfortable at a CLI prompt as you are collaborating on architecture improvements, we want to talk.

About You
You’ve got the solid fundamentals of networking and have proficiency in MikroTik RouterOS. You don’t cut corners, you write things down, and you think three steps ahead in your configurations. You thrive in environments where expectations are high and processes matter, but you’re adaptable enough to work through the curveballs.

You MUST:
- Be willing to work Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm Pacific Time (Seattle, WA)
- Be a fluent English speaker with minimal accent (customer-facing work required); if you reside outside the USA, we require a video or audio of your speaking abilities with the application
- Be willing to prove your skills and test live in a lab environment with our Chief Network Engineer before hire (please DO NOT apply if you're not a Mikrotik guru - seriously expert level)
- Be willing to be a part of after-hours call rotation for responding to emergency tickets and outages. Our NOC team takes call shifts for a week at a time. Additional compensation will be provided for responding after-hours.
- Dedicated to us during working hours - we do not tolerate people who work for multiple companies in overlapping shifts!

Core Responsibilities:
- Provision and configure MikroTik routers/switches, TP-Link Omada & Deco devices, and Ubiquiti UniFi gear to production standards - we have a fairly big network (thousands of Mikrotik devices)
- Serve as overflow and escalation point for helpdesk and supporting our field teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues (layer 2 & 3) quickly and effectively
- Assist in planning and implementing network changes and upgrades
- Maintain accurate documentation for every deployment and change
- Follow and improve our established provisioning and escalation processes

Required Skills & Experience:
- Deep, hands-on experience with MikroTik RouterOS (YOU WILL BE TESTED!)
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols: TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, OSPF/BGP fundamentals
- Solid troubleshooting skills across multiple vendors (MikroTik, TP-Link, Ubiquiti)
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a remote-first team
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Our engineering team is required to participate in emergency after-hours call rotation - in addition to their normal daily duties. This means that you would be responsible for responding to network outages and emergency tickets 24/7 for an entire week roughly once per month. The call rotation lasts from 8am Tuesday to the following Tuesday at 8am (Pacific Time). You must have the ability to receive text messages from a US number and respond within 1 hour. You are paid for the additional hours worked.

Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with Ubiquiti and/or Aviat (or similar) microwave radio configurations and supporting alignments
- Experience with TP-Link Omada controllers, Deco systems, and Ubiquiti UniFi products
- Experience with, or at least understand the fundamentals, of VoIP (we operate our own switch)
- MikroTik certifications (MTCNA, MTCRE)
- Cisco certifications (CCST, CCNA) or equivalent vendor-neutral credentials
- ISP or service provider network experience

What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role means you become a trusted technical operator on our network and a reliable force multiplier for the rest of the team. You are not just capable of handling tickets and configurations. You consistently make the network more stable, the team more efficient, and the customer experience better.
- Within your first 30 days, you are successfully handling provisioning, routine config work, and escalated troubleshooting in alignment with our standards.
- Within your first 60 days, you are contributing independently across daily operations, documentation, and support escalations with limited hand-holding.
- Over time, you become a go-to engineer for advanced troubleshooting, network improvements, and execution of high-impact changes across our production environment.

What We Offer:
- A high-expectation, high-support work environment
- Opportunity to work on a growing ISP network with complex, real-world challenges
- A team that values results, candor, and personal growth over politics and ego
- Paid time off after the first year

English Language Exercise - REQUIRED FOR NON-US APPLICANTS
Take a video or record audio (cell phone is fine) of you reading the standardized sample text used globally for accent comparison: “Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station.”

If you’re ready to work hard, think hard, and contribute at a higher level while still getting your hands dirty with the day-to-day, submit your proposal. Tell us about your most challenging MikroTik project, your troubleshooting approach, your microwave radio experience, and your certifications.
