Install Office Wired Subrouters

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

Our office network is beginning to feel cramped; with staff laptops, VoIP phones, printers, and a growing batch of IoT sensors, the existing router can no longer keep reliable connections open for everyone at once. I want to add a set of wired sub-routers (no mesh or wireless repeaters—clean Ethernet backhaul only) that will let us comfortably handle up to 50 concurrent devices while leaving headroom for modest growth.

Scope of work
• Walk the floor plan with me—identify the most effective cable runs and subrouter mounting points that keep latency low and minimise cable clutter.
• Recommend hardware (Cisco small-business, Ubiquiti, MikroTik, etc.) compatible with our gigabit switch and Cat-6 infrastructure.
• Install the units, patch them into our existing rack, and label all new drops.
• Configure DHCP relay, VLAN tagging, and basic security rules so every workstation, printer, and VoIP handset obtains an address without conflicts.
• Run live load tests to confirm that at least 50 devices can connect simultaneously without packet loss.

Acceptance criteria
1. Every ethernet wall jack served by a new subrouter must deliver ≥900 Mbps on iperf3.
2. Device logs show zero DHCP conflicts or duplicate IP alerts after a two-hour stress test.
3. A simple network diagram (PDF or Visio) documents router names, IP addresses, and port assignments.

Bring your own crimping tools, tester, and laptop; I’ll supply cable, patch panels, and access to the switch closet. Once everything is signed off, hand over the final configuration backup and any admin credentials you created.
