1. Management Server Configuration:
· Install and configure Check Point Security Management Server (SMS).
· Set up the necessary network connectivity to manage the gateways.
· Define administrator roles and permissions.
· Configure logging and monitoring settings.
2. Gateways Configuration in HA:
· Deploy two Check Point Security Gateways in High Availability (HA) mode.
· Configure synchronization between the gateways for seamless failover.
· Establish redundancy and load balancing for incoming and outgoing traffic.
3. VSX Configuration:
· Implement Virtual System Extension (VSX) for multi-tenancy and consolidation.
· Configure virtual firewalls, also known as Virtual Systems (VS), within the VSX environment.
· Assign network resources, such as interfaces and IP addresses, to each virtual firewall.
4. Network Creation:
· Create network objects and define their properties, including IP addresses, subnets, and VLANs.
· Configure network segments for DMZ, MZ (Management Zone), and LAN according to your network design requirements.
5. HA Failover Test:
· Perform a failover test to validate the High Availability configuration of the gateways.
· Ensure that traffic seamlessly switches from the primary gateway to the secondary gateway in case of a failure.
6. VSX Failover Test:
· Conduct a failover test for the Virtual System Extension (VSX) environment to ensure seamless failover of virtual firewalls.
· Verify that network traffic is properly rerouted to the backup VSX instance in case of a failure.
7. Upgrades and Hotfixes:
· Regularly update the Check Point software to the latest version to benefit from new features and security enhancements.
We need to share Checkpoint HLD architecture diagram as per customer requirement. They have Existing Firewall ASA 5520 Cisco Model. They want to migrate existing configuration in Checkpoint Firewall. Initially they will test all the above parameters. Once they confidant on that then Customer will do the migration.
