VPN Consulting job: Connect routers (CGNAT, dynamic IP) to a Win Server (static IP) by VPN.
Budget: $50 – $150 AUD
Criteria for success: IP devices, at multiple sites, can be targeted by a server, whilst the devices are under CGNAT.
Required work/Deliverables:
Written consultation containing: a proposed VPN solution for local routers to connect via VPN (installed on router) to a Windows Server (Currently 2016 but this is flexible).
- Name of VPN software to be installed on a router
- Name of VPN software to be installed on Win-Server (Native Win-Server VPN acceptable)
- Basic advice on setup
- Explanation on how/why this will work - good English communication skills are required, as this is a consulting job.
Current working setup:
- Local IP devices (cameras) on WLAN connect to server on request (multiple WLANs at different sites)
- Local WLAN router Port-forwards requests to target individual IP devices.
- Server finds cameras via DDNS/IP + local Port-forwarding.
- DDNS/External IP address is updated periodically through a local unit that updates an A-Record with Domain Name Provider to circumvent ISP dynamic IP addressing. There are multiple locations all connecting through separate routers. Server is running Windows Unreal Media Player (WUMP) *No knowledge of WUMP is required.
Problem: This is failing under Star Link ISP (CGNAT) as port forwarding is disabled.
Criteria for success: IP devices, at multiple sites, can be targeted by the server, whilst the devices are under CGNAT. (Win Server is hosted with Vultr, static IP address).
Not Required: No security measures are required, although a more secure infrastructure is appreciated. Devices individually encrypt data end-to-end.
No knowledge of Windows Media Server is required.
No knowledge of DDNS setup is expected.
A quote for completing a working model is also appreciated, but not required.
Resources: Remote access to a test Windows Server (TeamViewer) and DLINK VPN capable router is available.

Win Server is running 2016, hosted with Vultr, static IP address. The server version is flexible, but 2016 preferred as is faster (less system resources) than later Win-Server additions.
