Trace Unauthorized Wi-Fi Users

Job ID: 40158824

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

My home network has picked up some suspicious traffic and I need clear proof of every device on it. I’m after the MAC address, IP address, and any activity logs that will positively identify whoever is riding my Wi-Fi. It’s a standard home router; I’m not even sure whether I still have full admin access, so part of the job will be confirming that and, if necessary, recovering or bypassing credentials without factory-resetting the unit.

Once access is confirmed, I’d like you to:

• Produce a complete inventory of connected devices with their MAC and IP details, noting any that don’t match my own equipment.
• Capture or extract activity logs showing what those unknown devices are doing—websites hit, bandwidth consumed, connection times, anything the router can expose.
• Recommend and, if possible during the same session, implement basic hardening: stronger WPA2/3 key, disabled WPS, firmware update, guest network isolation.

You may use tools such as nmap, Wireshark, and manufacturer-specific utilities—whatever gets reliable data quickly. A short write-up of steps taken and findings will be the final deliverable so I can reference it later or pass it to my ISP if needed.

I’m ready to schedule a remote session as soon as we agree on the approach.
