Technitium Authoritative DNS Server install on Ubuntu 24

Job ID: 39842051

Budget: £10 – £11 GBP

I want Technitium DNS Server running on my own machine and turn it into a fully-fledged authoritative service. Two goals carry the same weight for me:

1. Pull the entire ICANN root zone locally via AXFR so the server answers root-level queries from my own copy.
2. Host and serve public domain zone from the same instance.

a text file with ALL install and configuration steps, so I’d like you to handle the initial configuration end-to-end and then walk me through what you did so I can maintain it myself.

Scope of work

• Configure Technitium so it functions as an authoritative root while co-existing with my custom domain zone.
• Verify everything with standard tools (dig, drill, etc.) and share the test commands plus expected output.
• Provide a short, plain-language rundown of how to add or modify zones in the future and any security considerations I should keep in mind.

I already have the server and Technitium installed; you bring the DNS expertise.
