Setup Plex Server with NAS
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have a fresh Windows 11 Pro mini-PC ready to become my dedicated Plex Media Server. The movie and TV-show files already live on a NAS mapped to the system as drive Z:, but nothing else is configured yet.
Here is what I’m after:
• Install the latest stable Plex Media Server on the mini-PC.
• Make sure the NAS share (Z:) is correctly mounted at boot and added as the primary library source for both Movies and TV Shows.
• Optimise basic settings—hardware transcoding (Intel Quick Sync), library scan schedule, and remote access—so everything streams smoothly on my gigabit LAN and over the internet.
• Confirm that sample movie and TV-show folders populate, posters show, and playback works on at least one remote client (web or mobile).
Once those items are complete and tested, I’ll take it from there. I can provide remote access to the PC and NAS, plus any credentials you need. If you can knock this out quickly and walk me through any future-proof tips, we’re good to go.
