Remote IT Specialist - Security & Firewall Management

The ideal candidate will take the lead in building, managing, and securing our IT environment with a focus on firewall implementation and network security.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain secure IT infrastructure, including network architecture, servers, and cloud environments.
Configure, manage, and monitor firewalls, VPNs, and other security devices to ensure secure access to company systems.
Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, patch management, and implement threat detection strategies.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to security, performance, and availability.
Create and enforce security policies and best practices across all systems and users.
Provide support and training to employees on IT security protocols and tools.
Monitor and respond to security incidents, including potential breaches, unauthorized access, and malware.
Maintain documentation of network configurations, security policies, and IT assets.
Stay up to date with the latest IT security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an IT Specialist or similar role with a strong focus on cybersecurity.
Expertise in firewall management (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto) and network security.
Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.) and network architecture.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and securing cloud environments.
Familiarity with encryption protocols, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security.
Proficiency in conducting security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and remotely, managing time and priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or CCNA Security.
Experience with automated security tools and SIEM solutions.
Familiarity with compliance standards like ISO 27001, GDPR, or HIPAA.
