TV Encoder Firewall Remote Access
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am in need of someone to help me add a switch into the server stack for my tv channel.
Here is the general setup (visio images of current and needed setup are attached):
* This entire system is on-site at Muscatine Power and Water in their communications head unit and I don't have easy physical access.
* Internet access comes in from Muscatine Power and Water (1 gig up and down)
* First appliance: Watchguard T15 Firewall
- connected via cat6 cable
* Second appliance: Cablecast Violite Channel Server (IP received from firewall)
- connected via SDI video cable to BlonderTongue
* Third Appliance: Blonder Tongue HDE-CSV-QAM/IP Single Channel MPEG-2 HD Encoder (IP address received from MPW cable system head unit)
- Connected via cat6 cable
* MPW cable system head unit
Basic concept:
* Video files on server are played out via the SDI out to the BlonderTongue
* BlonderTongue ingests the SDI signal and converts to h.265 for MPW head unit
* BlonderTongue pushes out signal through the only ethernet jack on the unit
Remote Access/live broadcasts:
* Access is setup to the server via direct IP passed through the firewall
For BlonderTongue admin access:
* Must be on site and unplug the cat6 from the head unit
* Must plug in a cat6 from single ethernet jack to a laptop with a certain IP address and go to an IP address to access the admin GUI.
* This cuts the h265 stream to the head unit while troubleshooting
Current Root Cause Problem:
* BlonderTongue cache overloads and stops pushing audio to the MPW head unit (have most updated firmware per BlonderTongue)
Secondary Problem
* I have no remote access to the BlonderTongue to monitor/reboot when there is a problem.
POTENTIAL SOLUTION #1
* Insert a switch between the BlonderTongue and MPW head unit that would allow access via the admin IP address on the BlonderTongue remotely while pushing the stream along through to the MPW head unit
POTENTIAL SOLUTION #2
* Add a remote power system that would at least let me push a button and restart the encoder if there are problems.
Final Deliverable:
* Illustration/instructions showing how to create this network for me to implement when I can get access to the head unit.
Ideal skills would include:
- Extensive knowledge in network security
- Prior experience with various TV encoders and firewalls
If this sounds like it's within your wheelhouse, please bid with an estimate of how long the project may take you.
