AI Workflow Engineer (n8n) for Advanced Automation Systems (long term contract - paid monthly)

Summary

We are a growing technology-focused business building advanced automation systems across operations, sales, onboarding, KYC, CRM, documentation workflows, and voice-driven agentic tools.

We are specifically looking for an AI Workflow Engineer (n8n) with a strong DevOps or backend engineering background — someone who understands infrastructure, API development, data handling, security layers, and system reliability.

This is not a simple low-code automation role. n8n experience is ESSENTIAL, but the ideal candidate will come from:

DevOps,

Backend engineering, or

Systems engineering,

and will be capable of turning complex real-world processes into scalable, secure, production-grade automations. You’ll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and executives to design and deploy high-quality workflows across the business.

Deliverables
Architect and build advanced agentic automations using n8n (or similar tools) combined with custom backend logic.
Develop and integrate REST APIs, webhooks, and multi-service workflows (OpenAI, Claude, ElevenLabs, Google APIs, Twilio, HubSpot, Airtable, Notion, etc.).
Build backend orchestration scripts/services in Node.js or Python when low-code tools are insufficient.
Manage databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Redis for workflow state, logging, queueing, and structured/unstructured data.
Handle infrastructure and deployment using Docker, PM2, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Render, or Vercel).
Implement security best practices: secret management, credential isolation, access control, and secure data handling.
Set up automated testing and QC flows (Postman, Jest, n8n test flows) to ensure reliability and prevent bugs in production.
Build monitoring/alerting pipelines for uptime, errors, and workflow performance.
Maintain clear technical documentation for workflows, integrations, and architectural decisions.
Proactively identify new automation opportunities across departments to improve operational efficiency.

Deliverables
We will work on various automations: Marketing Automations, Research automations etc.
Store results in Supabase.
Generate a weekly report of new verified tools.
Phase 2 – Automation Expansion
Create reusable workflows for:
Social content triggers (feed → Predis.ai → posts)
Affiliate detection and auto-form filling
GA4 / Looker analytics reporting
Daily summaries to Discord
Phase 3 – Optimisation & Leadership
Maintain and scale automations across the company.
Collaborate with our dev lead to integrate systems cleanly (Vercel + Supabase stack).
Document workflows and train others to operate them.
Goal:
Build the automation backbone that keeps CompareBestAI running efficiently, accurately, and with minimal manual effort.

Ideal Background

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering
2 – 5 years experience in full-stack or automation development
Strong in JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, API design, database handling (Postgres/Supabase)
Comfortable with n8n, Puppeteer/Playwright, and LLM API integrations
Enjoys systems thinking, clean architecture, and turning messy workflows into elegant automation
Bonus: Experience with
Machine learning or AI tools integration
Web scraping ethics and rate-limiting best practices
GA4 / Looker or data-visualisation stacks

Job Details
Type: Ongoing project (long-term)
Retainer: $500-750/month starting. Increases to the retainer will be based on performance and company growth.
