Optimize a very large MySQL database
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I have a very large MySQL database that uses LVM on a normal Linux VPS on Linode. The database is now 200GB+ and some tables are 100GB+. The DB has a lot of inserts and updates at all times. After running the DB for a while, we can't do basic tasks like count(ID), sort by ID or order by DESC on timestamp columns. As a result, we can't make any changes to the table at all.
We either need to optimize the DB or migrate it to another solution (i.e. AWS RDS, Linode Managed Databases). Right now it is impossible to scale our project because of this DB bottleneck.
You will need to:
1. Review our current DB structure
2. Advise us whether it is better to restructure or migrate the DB
3. Implement whatever you suggest
Important: The DB uses LVMs. If you aren't familiar/comfortable with managing DBs that use LVMs, please don't bid
We will select whoever has the best bid and suggestion/experience, so please bid competitively!
