Need help copying MySQL/MariaDB database

I am migrating an application to a new server, I have setup the application all ok, the final step is to dump the MariaDB database on the old server then import it on on the new server. I have dumped the source ok, it is just under 500MB in size, but when I try to import it on the new server it silently fails, there are no meaningful errors in the logs. A MySQL/MariaDB expert can no doubt sort it very quickly! I can give you SSH access to the destination server.
