MySQL Optimization & Server Performance Tuning - High CPU Usage Issue
Budget: ₹1,000 – ₹2,000 INR
I am looking for a skilled and experienced server administrator with expertise in MySQL optimization and server performance tuning to resolve a critical issue with my website ijsrem.com. The website is experiencing intermittent downtime (30-50 minutes daily), and the issue appears to be caused by MySQL's excessive CPU usage, which is consuming up to 278.2% CPU. This high CPU usage is resulting in significant performance degradation, especially during peak traffic times.
The issue as reported by the hosting provider:
The server is consuming 278.2% CPU due to the MySQL process (/usr/sbin/mysqld), which indicates that the database is using excessive resources.
The hosting provider has informed me that the CPU usage can exceed 100% on multi-core systems (each 100% represents one core utilization).
The issue causes continuous downtime, impacting the user experience and website availability.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze the MySQL database performance and identify the root cause of excessive CPU usage.
Review and optimize the MySQL configuration files (such as my.cnf).
Investigate and optimize SQL queries that may be inefficient or resource-hungry.
Check for potential database locking issues, excessive connections, or unnecessary background processes.
Tune the server for improved performance (index optimization, query caching, etc.).
Provide recommendations for scaling and improving the overall server health, particularly for handling higher traffic loads.
Ensure that the server is properly configured for resource management (e.g., memory usage, thread handling, etc.).
Test and validate that the changes result in reduced CPU usage and enhanced website uptime.
Requirements:
Proven experience in MySQL optimization and performance tuning on Linux servers.
Strong knowledge of server resource management and database performance metrics.
Experience in diagnosing and resolving MySQL-related performance issues such as high CPU usage, slow queries, and resource hogging.
Familiarity with server logs and diagnostic tools to identify bottlenecks.
Ability to work with hosting providers and system administrators for server-side troubleshooting.
Excellent communication skills for providing updates and recommendations.
