Fullstack Activities Finder - WebApp
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 USD
The employer is looking for:
An experienced software developer to build a web-app that scrapes the web for information regarding activities in a certain area (city/town) that are withinunder a the given budget for a specific number of people.
The core features of the web-app are:
- A user authentication system
- A database that stores the user information and uses previous search history for displaying more personalized search results in the future
- A search function that takes in budget, # of people, interests, allocated time and the area information to provide appropriate results
- A backend that will scrape the web and display the activities the user can take part in provided it matches the search criteria (Scraping/ML/NLP)
- A clean and easy to use front-end for the users/investors to demo the application
- Admin dashboard for reviewing data collection and user management
Note: We have a basic algorithm that scrapes, stores and ranks activities. We want this algorithm to be scaled up in size and be optimized for faster search times.
The word activity can mean a wide range of things. It could be a hotel stay, a museum visit trip, a skiing experience or a special activity that exists only in a certain city. Will be further explained by the employer. (This is the most important part of the algorithm that will drive the web app)
The web app is being developed as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), therefore the algorithm and search are the main concern of the employer.
Example scenario: What can I do with a $100 budget with 2 people in 4hrs allocating 1hr for travel, in the city of Vancouver and my chosen interest is sports?
The app would provide results such as ice-skating, badminton/tennis courts, cycling activities and similar results.
