Database Administrator

Full Time/ Project Based
Responsibilities
• Migrate MS SQL Server database to PostgreSQL
• Optimize and enhance database structure during the transition to PostgreSQL to improve performance, security
• Plan and coordinate the administration of PostgreSQL databases to ensure accurate, appropriate, and effective use of data, including database definition, structure, documentation, long - range requirements, and operational guidelines
• Convert Stored Procedures as needed from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL
• Tune autovacuum parameters to ensure up to date table stats and reclaim space consumed by dead tuples
• Set up development, test, UAT and production environments with Production data as needed
• Set up Scalability, High Availability and Disaster Recovery to ensure 99.99% uptime
• Assist the software developers on all issues related to the database
Qualifications
• At least 2 years of extensive hands-on experience with managing PostgreSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL Architecture, Performance Management, User Management and Security.
• Exposure to Cloud Data Migrations & Cloud Native databases like Aurora is desirable
• Reasonable exposure to SQL Server is a must
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex architectures such as high availability, disaster recovery and scalability for mission critical, 24*7 environments.
• Independently manage processes, automation, best practices, and documentation. Possess good communication skills as this position will require interacting with multiple application teams.
