Song to my little sister

I used to sing, and my little sister wanted to sing like me. She wrote a poem while I was deployed and sang to her poem. She wanted to be like me and for years I have been holding on to this video trying to find time to turn her poem into a song and since she will be graduating High School this year, I wanted to give her something special. I want to turn her poem/mini song into an actual song with my vocals. I know this is a lot, but I don't know where to start with this song and I have tried over and over again but I can't find the right words or find the right music! I am not looking to make it rich and famous or trying to make the next big single, which may run some people away, but I just want to give my sister something special and something that comes from my heart. I do not have what it takes to do it alone which is why I am here trying to make the first step because she will graduate before I know it. I am not sure how this goes or will read this but, please whomever does help me show this girl who was only 5 years old when I joined the Marines and never stopped looking up to me that I have also been watching her even from halfway around the world! I have the video saved on my phone and I guess when the time comes, I can convey what I would like to say to the one who wants to help me!
