Remote Home Studio Setup Help
Budget: $25 – $50 CAD
I already have the gear on the desk—MIDI keyboard, acoustic and electric guitars, audio interface, studio monitors, all the connecting cables, plus a Windows laptop with 8 GB RAM—but I still need an expert eye to wire everything together and make it sing.
The session will be held live over Zoom (or any screen-share platform you prefer). During the first hour I want to:
• Physically and digitally hook up every component so Reaper recognizes the interface, the keyboard transmits MIDI, and the monitors play back without hum or latency.
• Install ASIO drivers, confirm sample-rate settings, and create a template session I can reuse.
• Locate, download, and correctly install free VST instruments and effects that play nicely with my configuration—think synths for EDM, cinematic pads, and orchestral libraries such as Spitfire LABS or Vital.
After the initial setup, I’ll need occasional follow-up hours for troubleshooting and basic instruction. My DAW background is limited to some Cakewalk tinkering three decades ago, so please be prepared to explain recording, editing, and routing in plain language and demonstrate core Reaper workflows (MIDI programming, audio tracking, comping, automation, exporting).
