Moodle Design and WordPress Integration

Job ID: 32768926

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

Hi there!

I am in the conception phase of a start-up project of a social enterprise which will involve the creation of an online training academy. Initially, I thought about using only WordPress and building my LMS there. However, the LMS options available for WordPress are not in line with my requirements: I want an LMS that follows the international e-learning standards of the IMS Global Consortium, that is, an LMS with an LTI certificate. Therefore, I thought about Moodle (open-source version) because it is certified and free of cost.

My idea:
I know that Moodle is not a good platform for marketing purposes due to SEO concerns, so I am thinking of using WordPress as my homepage and the idea is to sell all the Moodle courses in WordPress through WooCommerce. Therefore, Moodle would only be used to access the courses after the purchase.
As for WordPress, I am thinking about installing a multisite network (using a subdomain configuration) because WooCommerce can also be a bit heavy and I want to ensure the site performance. So, my idea is to create 2 WordPress sites under my network, one as my homepage and marketing for google ranking (www.mysite.com), and a second one to install WooCommerce (www.shop.mysite.com).

My first need: WordPress Integration
Since Moodle is a completely different platform, I will need to integrate it with my WooCommerce site (www.shop.mysite.com). I know that the Edwiser plugin provides this integration, but I would like to do it without a plugin because I don't like the idea of being dependent upon a third party for updates. So, I am thinking about hiring a developer. However, I know that there are a few types of integrations available (courses synchronization, auto-enrollment, and Single Sign-On), but I am not sure if I will need them all given my website structure outlined above!? Also, I would like to provide some types of functionalities like bundle courses and free courses as well. Would these options be possible through the integration?

My second need: Moodle Design
This is a huge problem because I think Moodle is not user-friendly or intuitive, especially when it comes to the student perspective. There are a few paid themes I enjoyed (e.g., alpha, maker, and purity), but again, relying on a third party for updates is not something I feel particularly attracted to. I would like to change the design of the Moodle platform, especially the student's dashboard, and the course pages to make them more modern and user-friendly (similar to pictures 1 and 2 attached). I would also like to change the structure of each course page to look something like picture 3 (but with the modern design of the previous).

Conclusion
I am looking for a good and ethical developer with proven experience in Multi-site, Moodle/WordPress integration, and website design skills based on clean and high-quality code. As for the website design, a portfolio and/or indication of similar work is necessary and references are highly appreciated. What would be the range of prices for each service (integration vs design)?

Thank you so much in advance.

Best,
Vânia
