Optimize Django-MongoDB API Backend
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I run a rapidly growing auto-parts storefront and I need a seasoned backend developer to tighten up our foundations and prepare us for heavier traffic. Your mission is to rethink our MongoDB schema so queries remain lightning-fast, then expose that data through clean, versioned REST endpoints built with Django and Django REST Framework.
The first feature set you will tackle is product listing and searches. I already have a clear response structure in mind; what I need is your expertise to shape efficient aggregation pipelines, create the right indexes, and surface the data through well-documented endpoints. We can revisit extras such as user authentication or order processing later, but the immediate focus is catalogue browsing speed and relevance.
You will be expected to:
• Design and optimise a MongoDB schema that scales, profiling queries with MongoDB Query Profiler to eliminate bottlenecks.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs in Django/DRF that serve product listings and search results.
• Keep everything containerised—our dev stack lives in Docker and Docker Compose, and it needs to stay reproducible for new contributors.
• Hand over concise setup instructions and endpoint documentation so my in-house team can plug in a React front-end without friction.
If you love squeezing every millisecond out of MongoDB and enjoy clean, testable Django code inside Docker, let’s talk.
