Search Engine / Product Generator
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We have a Export of our Product database on a Excel spreadsheet. At the moment we use it with the filter function to find or narrow down products. The Excel was adapted and edited and contains meanwhile several columns with product specifications (Item number, height, width, depth, weight capacity, temperature range, color, material, product group, references to item drawings and many more)
But because it could be changed and screwed up easy I would like to get an application programmed. How far we will roll it out is not defined yet. It depends on the costs. Bottom solution would be a search Engine for Excel. Medium solution would be for Android. And top solution additionally available for IOS and implementation into a web page.
In this way no one would interfere with the original Database except of adapting it.
As a original database for the App the existing Excel spreadsheet has to be the foundation.
The original Excel database should be also continuously adaptable without changing or reprogramming the application. In order to add future products.
The application should work for customers and employees and should have the following capabilities:
The (most important) specifications (Item number, height, width, depth, weight capacity etc...) from the columns in the original database Excel are listed as empty fields.
It should have a counter/button for "direct match of product".
It should have a counter/button for "closest match of product".
It should have a button "contact customer service" that generates Emails.
Function (rough idea):
The most important specifications get a fill-able line.
With the help of a drop down menu (just a suggestion everything better get accepted too) a certain value can be chosen to fill the line for a certain specification.
This value will either restrict the range of possible products or fill out the other lines with the product specifications.
If for instance a clear reference to a particular item like the item number or the item description get entered. Then all fields get filled automatically.
But if only the temperature range or length get chosen no field will be additionally filled but the range of possible products get restricted further down until there is no more possible choice.
The user will get on the "direct match of product counter" to a page where he sees his final product and can send for instance a Email to customer service. Or he might get over the "closest match of product counter" to a list of all possible slides and based on that he can request data, drawings of more details with a Email to customer service.
The most important part for us is to keep the database foundation from the existing Excel Sheet to be able to add or delete items.
I would be interested in programmers that already accomplished projects similar to that.
Further details to the Excel database (a version with a few items not all) will follow later.
