Mobile developer to work with Flutter for IoT device management app
Budget: $50 – $0 USD
We have an existing Flutter app that is used to set up, manage, and monitor an IoT device. The device is paired to the mobile app/device via Bluetooth Low Energy and then through the UI navigates the user to get the device connected to a WiFi network or via Ethernet. From a design perspective, the UX is inspired by other apps in the consumer IoT space (Alexa, Nest, Ring, etc.).
Specifically, this initial version of the app has the following features available for users:
- Bluetooth Pairing
- Connect the device to a WiFi network
- Change WiFi credentials
- Check device status (online, not online, issue communicating to the back-end server, etc)
- Contact customer service
The next iteration of the app is aiming to take printed instructions shipped in the kit of the device and create a set of step-by-step instructions or set-up wizard all within the application. Another change is that users should be able to set up more than one device. These will be the same type of device, just multiple of them.
We have to account for getting the device online via WiFi or Ethernet.
This will require us to create new flows while ensuring that the application will not lead to a dead-end and making it as easy as possible for users to install the IoT device/s.
It will be a plus for the candidate to have some experience and skills in design work ( basics of wireframes, Balsamiq, Figma). Most of the new flow can be reused from other parts of the app, the design components already exist and we are using a specific library for icons. We also have a first draft ready in Figma as a starting point. Experience and ability to provide value in design, UX, UI will be preferred.
The right candidate will be able to complete this feature in a timely matter in order to hit our quarterly goal. Shall implementation be successful and on time, there will be an opportunity to continue with the project and future features.
Attached, you will find a first draft of the feature we are looking to build. It will give you a good sense of what we need to build. What is missing from these screens are the ability to define the room or location the device is being set up in. This will be done via a dropdown with predefined selections. Also what is missing is the ability to check the status of more than one device. Looking for suggestions on how to best achieve this.
You must:
- have experience working with iOS and Android applications written in Flutter/Dart
- experience releasing test and new versions of the application
- ability to test using actual mobile devices (android + iOS)
- comfortable working with a project management tool such as Jira or Asana (Jira preferred)
- ability to work full time on the project until the feature is delivered
- experience in design and UI with some basic skills in creating Figma mock-ups if needed
- be fluent in English (verbal and written)
