Code adjustment of a Pedal Recorder done in React Native

The project consists of adjusting the source code of a part of our application that is already in production.
The problem: We have an Activity Recorder (pedaling) in our App, similar to tools like STRAVA, WIKILOC, RELIVE, GARMIN. This recorder is built in React Native and at various times it CRASHES by MEMORY LEAK when capturing GPS POINTS in BACKGROUND.
Possible solution (suggestion): Implement best practices using native ANDROID and iOS code coupled with React Native.
Scope: Make the necessary changes and corrections for the project to work, without worrying about layout aesthetics.
