AR mobile app
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We are seeking an engineer to collaborate on the development of a smartphone app designed to track student attendance in a university setting using Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, particularly utilizing ARCore/Google Cloud Anchors to place a virtual button in the classroom. The concept is similar to the IKEA app, where virtual furniture is positioned in physical rooms. The primary goal is to create an AR app that caters to two key user groups: instructors and students.
Instructors should be able to use the AR-app to place the virtual attendance button on any surface within the classroom. Meanwhile, students should use the AR-app to view the virtual button and tap on it to record their attendance.
Technical Specifications:
1. Integration with SSO System: The attendance system should integrate with a Single Sign-On (SSO) system. Upon successful authentication, user login information must be securely stored within the AR-app.
2. RESTful Communication: Tapping the virtual button triggers a RESTful message sent to a back-end system. This message should encapsulate the student's login information and the class/section associated with the virtual button. The back-end system will then record the attendance event.
3. Instructor Functionality: Instructors should log in using their SSO credentials. The app must fetch and display a list of classes the instructor teaches from the back-end using a RESTful message. The instructor can then choose a class and place a virtual button on any available surface in the classroom. The virtual button should be associated with the selected class and expire (disappear) after a preset time (e.g., 15 minutes).
4. Back-End Technology: The preferred back-end technology is Python, and a MySQL database should be used for persistence.
5. Cross-Platform App: The app should be compatible with both iOS and Android AR-enabled devices. To avoid maintaining two separate code bases, we prefer the use of a cross-platform framework such as Flutter.
Other Requirements:
• Collaboration with an Internal Team: You will collaborate with a small internal team of developers consisting of 2 to 3 individuals with beginner to intermediate skills in app and back-end development.
• Training and Guidance: The project involves training and guiding the internal team during the development process.
• Version Control: The team should use Git for source control to manage the codebase effectively.
If you're interested in working on this project, please share your qualifications and experience relevant to this task. We look forward to discussing the project further and creating a successful AR-based attendance tracking app for the university setting.
