Project Goal:
We need to implement a robust and seamless payment processing system using Stripe Connect. The goal is to allow practitioners (our users) on the Booked platform to easily onboard with Stripe and accept payments from their clients for services booked through our platform (web and mobile apps). Booked will act as the platform facilitating these transactions, potentially taking an application fee. We aim for an integrated experience that feels native to the Booked platform.
Key Responsibilities:
* Consultation & Design: Advise on the most suitable Stripe Connect account type (e.g., Express or Custom) based on our platform needs, balancing practitioner onboarding simplicity with platform control and user experience. Design the payment flow architecture.
* Practitioner Onboarding: Implement the Stripe Connect onboarding process within our practitioner web application (React frontend, Django backend), allowing practitioners to easily connect or create their Stripe accounts.
* Payment Collection: Integrate Stripe Elements (for web/React) and/or the Stripe Mobile SDKs (for React Native) into our client-facing interfaces to securely collect payment details.
* Backend Implementation (Python/Django):
* Develop backend logic to handle Stripe API interactions: creating charges/payment intents, managing different charge types (e.g., destination charges or separate charges and transfers), handling application fees, managing payouts to connected accounts.
* Implement robust webhook handling for critical Stripe events (e.g., payment_intent.succeeded, account.updated, payout.paid, charge.dispute.created).
* Ensure secure handling of API keys and sensitive data.
* Integrate payment logic smoothly with our existing user models, booking, and subscription flows.
* Testing: Collaborate with our team to thoroughly test the payment flows, onboarding, and edge cases.
* Documentation: Provide clear documentation for the implemented solution and processes.
