Source RTSP-Ready Wi-Fi Camera
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I’m building a mobile app that needs to pull a live video feed directly from a tiny, lightweight Wi-Fi camera—no proprietary viewer, no cloud lock-in.
What I need you to do is dig through Alibaba, locate a manufacturer or reliable trader, and secure written confirmation that their unit matches the specs below. My first choice is a 4k or 2.5K model , (but I will accept 1080P if necessary), battery-powered, and it must speak at least one of the following open protocols: RTSP, ONVIF, or MJPEG/HTTP (WebRTC would be a bonus). The stream has to stay up indefinitely so I can open it in VLC or tap it in FFmpeg without the device falling asleep. USB or adapter power as a secondary option is welcome, but the camera must be able to run on its own battery.
This job is urgent, so a Chinese native would be best, as they can contact suppliers by phone, rather than waiting for written replies.
When you contact suppliers, make sure they answer three things in black and white:
1. Which of the accepted protocols the camera exposes and a working sample URL (e.g. rtsp://ip:port/... or http://ip:port/video).
2. Whether they provide an SDK or API so my app can integrate directly.
3. Exactly which ports, paths, and credentials are needed to pull the live feed.
Deliverables to me:
• A short list of at least three candidate cameras that physically resemble an action cam (I’ll share reference photos once we start).
• Screenshots or PDFs of the supplier’s written confirmation covering the three points above.
• The sample stream URLs you tested (a quick VLC screenshot is perfect).
Once I have your findings, I’ll choose a model and move on to purchase samples. Looking forward to your research!
