Scanning-and-OCR Microservice Implementation with Supabase (PostgreSQL) Backend for Contact Management Solution -- 2

We are seeking proposals from experienced freelancers to implement a critical Scanning-and-OCR Microservice for our contact management solution, Twym Connect. Our solution manages digital business cards, smart landing profiles, and lead capture forms, with a defined PostgreSQL database schema and pre-existing API endpoints. The microservice must adhere to best microservice architecture standards.
The primary task for this proposal is to implement a microservice capable of processing business card images and extracting contact information, as detailed in our Solution Design Document. This includes:
Image Processing & Text Extraction: Implement logic to receive and process business card images (front and back), leveraging OCR capabilities (e.g., concepts from google_mlkit_document_scanner for capture and ml_card_scanner for robust text extraction) to accurately identify and extract relevant contact information.
Pattern Recognition: Apply regular expressions to parse extracted text for specific data points such as phone numbers ((\+?1?[-.\s]?)?\(?([0-9]{3})\)?[-.\s]?([0-9]{3})[-.\s]?([0-9]{4})), email addresses ([a-zA-Z0-9._%+-]+@[a-zA-Z0-9.-]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,}), names, and company names.
Background Processing & Data Saving: Develop a mechanism for asynchronous, background OCR processing, and ensure extracted data is securely saved in a structured format consumable by our Supabase (PostgreSQL) backend, with appropriate notifications upon completion.
Error Handling: Implement robust error handling for OCR failures, providing graceful fallback mechanisms and clear logging for debugging.
Testing: Thoroughly test the end-to-end OCR process, including various scenarios (successful extraction, partial extraction, failures).
This project requires rapid development, with a maximum completion time of 3 days. We encourage the use of AI coding assistants like Cursor (or equivalent) for efficiency, and we will reimburse up to $30 CAD for a one-month subscription to Cursor.
