# React Native Chat Application Bug Fixing Project

## Project Overview

I'm seeking a skilled React Native developer to fix stability issues in the chat functionality of my mobile application built with React Native. The app uses XMPP (with OpenFire server) and Stanza.js for real-time messaging, alongside Redux for state management and SQLite for local storage.

## Current Issues

1. **Chat Stability Problems**: The chat functionality is unstable and frequently disconnects or fails to maintain sessions properly. *Issues in Group Chat & 1-to-1 chat*
2. **Media Handling Issues**: Media messages (images, videos, voice notes) aren't consistently displaying or sending correctly.
3. **Session Management**: There are problems with session expiry handling and reconnection logic.
4. **Performance**: The chat screens experience performance degradation with larger message histories.
5. **OpenFire Integration**: Issues with OpenFire user registration and connection management. Chat loses connection at times and messages are not sent.
Various issues like messages disappearing, messages not sent/delivered to other user, group chat read receipts are missing.

## Technical Stack

- React Native (version 0.73.6)
- Redux for state management
- XMPP/Stanza.js for real-time communication with OpenFire server
- React Native Firebase for notifications
- SQLite for local storage
- Various media handling libraries

## Key Files to Focus On

I'll provide access to the following key files:
- XMPP client configuration and OpenFire connection management
- OpenFire user registration service
- Chat UI components (ChatDetail.js, ChatSearch.js, etc.)
- API request handlers with session management
- Media handling components and utilities
- Phone number formatting for OpenFire

## Deliverables

1. Fixed XMPP/OpenFire connection stability
2. Proper session management (including expiry and reconnection)
3. Reliable media handling in chat (images, videos, voice notes)
4. Optimized chat performance with larger message histories
5. Documentation of changes made to fix the issues
Chat functionality should have features similar to a standard chat application. Reply to, forward, clear chat, reactions etc.
Deliverable will be a react native app with complete code base to run the chat connected to OpenFire. Provide all configurations, setup etc.

## Skills Required

- Strong experience with React Native
- Experience with XMPP/Stanza.js and OpenFire server integration
- Knowledge of Redux state management
- Experience with media handling in React Native
- Understanding of session management and authentication flows
- Experience with SQLite or similar local databases in mobile apps
