Job ID: 34451988

Budget: ₹250,000 – ₹500,000 INR

Creating a digital platform to assist collection, conservation, characterization, evaluation, documentation, and utilization of forest genetic resources (FGR). MIPL intends to develop a Digital (Software) Platform (interactive web portal for DBMS and android mobile application) to collect and manage FGR data. This Software Platform would consist of a Smartphone tablet support application and a Web Portal for DBMS to enable effective data collection and management viz.
(i) Germplasm collection database
(ii) Tree data
(iii) Seed database
(iv) Gene-bank database
(v) Detailed querying system
(vi) Data export and
(vii) Automated report generation

The software platform aims at the following:
 To effectively collect from remote locations data during exploration (should be able to collect even in offline mode)
 To effectively store the morphological characterized data
 To integrate with relevant external systems (like image analyzer, GPS device, GIS, etc) on a need basis
 To provide an efficient querying system for the collected data
 To be able to import / export selective or entire data
 To be able to build automated report generation
 Allow updating of data continuously
 To catalog the seed bank data The android mobile app will have to capture texts, photos, and geo-location formation during data collection.

The android mobile app and portal should run off of a Relational Database Schema, supporting dynamic features of the application. Data exchange between the Android Mobile application and Web Portal for DBMS must be decoupled in real-time. All the resources and data must be backed up in a secure place. Whenever possible the mobile app functionalities (for instance data collection feature) may be made available offline. However, these criteria would be decided during the discovery phase.
