Budget: £10 – £15 GBP
Job Description:
We are looking for an mobile game developer to build a unique, retro-inspired medieval game. The project involves creating a complete game featuring an interactive lobby and several mini-games with distinct mechanics and themes. The primary engine preference is Godot; however, if you have a strong background in Unity, Unreal, or another engine and can achieve similar quality, please feel free to propose your approach. Priority will be given to those using Godot.
Project Overview:
Main Game:
Main Menu:
Pixel art style with a medieval village background featuring subtle animations
Central buttons:
Play: Starts the interactive lobby.
Mini-Games List: Direct access to a list of mini-games with an option to return.
Settings: Toggle music and sound effects with a return option.
Credits: Displays credits with a return button.
Interactive Lobby:
A medieval-themed map where players select their character (choose from three: a maid, a vampire girl with an umbrella, or an adventurer). The character selection only affects the lobby appearance.
Movement is controlled by touching the screen's sides (left/right).
Key areas include:
Central Plaza: NPCs are placed here with indicators ("!" icons) for available mini-games. When approached, an interaction button appears, triggering dialogues and initiating a mini-game request.
Tavern: Direct access to the mini-games list and score rankings.
Some NPCs will wander the map, while others (associated with mini-games) are more strategically placed.
Mini-Games:
These menus will lead directly to a screen explaining the game mechanics before starting the mini-game.
Collect Apples (Medieval Maid):
Narrative: A maid requests help to collect apples falling from trees. Disguise as a maid to avoid a boss who dislikes extranger.
Mechanics:
Apples grant points; falling stones cause damage.
As rounds progress, objects fall faster with increased obstacles (more stones per wave).
Power-ups: 4-second immunity against stones.
Controls: Tap the screen to move, with swipe direction determining movement.
Samurai Ascent (Samurai Warrior):
Narrative: A samurai asks for help in rescuing his friends trapped atop a tower. He gifts his armor as a token of trust.
Mechanics:
The character automatically moves side-to-side.
Tap to jump; swipe to attack.
Unique wall-sliding mechanic (inspired by classic platformers).
Wizard Scape (Wizard):
Narrative: A maid requests assistance in retrieving her magical wand, which transforms its holder into a wizard. She lends you her wand for defense if needed.
Mechanics:
An endless runner with automatic horizontal scrolling.
Tap to jump and double-tap for a double jump.
Horizontal swipes to cast spells.
Clean the Garden (Knight on Horseback):
Narrative: A knight on horseback seeks help to eliminate garden monsters while preserving precious plants for the queen.
Mechanics:
Another endless runner with auto-scrolling.
Swipe forward to lower your lance and attack enemies.
Swipe in the opposite direction to raise the lance to avoid hitting plants.
Losing life occurs on collision with enemies or by damaging plants.
Deliverables:
Complete Game Source Code:
Includes the full game with the interactive lobby, character selection, and integration of all mini-games as described.
Individual Mini-Game Source Code:
Each mini-game should be provided as a separate project with its own startup menu and unique background.
When "Play" is pressed in these individual projects, it should lead directly to the mini-game explanation screen and then to the gameplay.
Additional Information:
All assets (music, etc.) will be provided. Your responsibility is to integrate these assets and implement all game mechanics.
Emphasis on a smooth user experience and performance optimization is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of 2D game design and pixel art aesthetics.
Ability to work with provided assets and deliver polished source code for both the complete game and individual mini-games.
