Laser-Based Hazard Detection Device

Job ID: 39188702

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

The laser distance needs to be at least 1m long at a straight angle, the laser also will need to detect a person as it disturbs the laser beam so I cant really give you an exact number of people unfortunately. I have also just sent through the deposit for the project.

Its a Photon device that uses a laser to detect and entry though any sort of entrance, its a similar concept to a laser level. The device needs to be able to sense when the laser beam has been disturbed so it can send out a sequence of 2 beeps followed by various bits of information depending on what the hazard is, it needs to be a red or green laser and needs to be at least 1m long at a straight angle. The device also needs a variety of mounting points which will be 2 magnets on the back of the device followed by one hole ontop of each of them for the option to screw it into place. The device will also need some type of hinge system so that it can spin around on the spot. Obviously the device needs to be compact as it cant be getting in the way of anyone.

The design will be a small circular device that will sit on the inside a workers hard hat via Velcro or a built in clip locking system, the devices purpose is ensure that the company has done everything possible to keep workers safe due to this device being handed out after inductions company's can identify who on site has not been inducted therefore creating a safety risk to alert the worker of them entering exclusion zones around a construction site, these could be: areas with hazardous fumes, areas of electrical, pressure or water testing, hot works, radiation or asbestos etc. The device will need to be able to detect when it enters an exclusion zone and send an alert to the worker via a small speaker which will let out 2 beeps followed by various bits of information such as what hazard it is for example flooded areas, dangerous fumes, testing of various types ect. The device can also be used as a basic tracker so supervisor can be notified if a worker enters an exclusion zone which will then be given a timestamp with the name of the exclusion zone they entered. We will need to figure out a way to mass charge the devices ( potentially solar). We will also need to find a way to get service into underground levels so that the devices signal can be detected. Also the device will need potentially a second part so that exclusion zones can be marked out so the hardhat device knows when it has entered a exclusion zone ( use laser
device potentially). App may be able to link all devices together. The device will help small or large scale company's manage mass amounts of workers, App will be used to label exclusion zone marking device with different hazards. eg: level 3 device - dangerous fumes or basement level 2 device - flooded area. Device will be linked to the workers phone so that there details can be linked to the helmet device so supervisors can identify who has entered the exclusion zones or who is on site as the device will show up as active on the app.
then a signal will be sent to the alarm
As far as I’m as well we have a device that:
1. Can detect movement when the laser is disturbed
2. device hazard can be changed using the app
3. device will call out the hazard once movement past the device has been detected
4. is robust and fault proof
