Investigate a mobile app for outbound connections

There is a mobile app (available both in Android and IOS) which uses an outside database to provide the information it provides. I want to find out the exact connection it makes to reach this database. A freelancer here has found this out before but now the app is updated and I can't reach that freelancer so I'm posting the project again. This should be a fairly easy task for someone who knows their way around mobile apps and networking. This job probably won't require any more than 1 hour of your time if you know what you're doing so please don't bid anything over 100$.
