Develop a Mobile App for Wilderness Medicine Field Guide
Budget: £10 – £15 GBP
I’m looking for a developer to create a simple mobile app for both iOS and Android that presents my 200-page Wilderness Medicine Field Guide in an easy-to-navigate format. The app will be used by outdoor educators, search and rescue personnel, mountain rescuers, and Wilderness EMTs as both a study guide and a field reference.
This app doesn’t need unnecessary features—just a clean, functional design that allows users to access the guide quickly and efficiently. All content, photos, and technical illustrations are already complete, so I don't need those created.
Key Features:
Table of Contents with Links – Users can tap a chapter in the TOC to jump to that section.
Offline Access – The guide should be available without an internet connection.
Simple, Clean UI – No clutter; just easy navigation.
One-Time Purchase Model – The app should be a paid download with no subscriptions.
Basic Content Protection – Prevents easy sharing or copying of the guide.
Additional Consulting Needed:
I may need guidance on whether the print version of my manual is already well-suited for a mobile app or if adjustments are needed in terms of:
1) Font size for readability on mobile devices.
2) Text and image layout to ensure a good user experience.
3) Cost effective ability to make yearly updates to protocols
4) Discussion of prevention of AI scraping of content
5) Adherence to web/mobile accessibility guidelines
Requirements:
Experience developing Android & iOS apps
Ability to implement secure, offline PDF viewing
Prior work on document-based or reference apps preferred. Similar apps on the App Store include: CMC Field Guide, Alaska Wildland EMS, DRR Rescue.
Budget & Timeline:
I’m open to proposals and cost estimates, but I prefer cost-effective solutions.
Looking for a functional prototype within 4-6 weeks.
If you have experience with secure document viewing apps and mobile-friendly formatting, I’d love to hear from you! Please share relevant examples of your past work.
