Cross-Platform Productivity App Development

Job ID: 39335531

Budget: ₹1,000 – ₹15,000 INR

Project Requirement: Carriage Vehicle Tracking Application for Soybean Refinery

Objective:

To develop a mobile application (compatible with iOS and Android) that enables the tracking of carriage vehicles moving through various checkpoints in the refinery. The goal is to improve operational transparency and efficiency while ensuring a minimal investment approach.

Process Flow & Checkpoints:

Each truck moving through the refinery will be logged at specific checkpoints. The application should allow tracking of:

Entry at Factory Gate (Checkpoint 1)

The truck arrives at the refinery.

Security logs the truck number, driver details, and cargo information into the system.

A timestamp is recorded automatically.

Arrival at Weighing Scale (Checkpoint 2)

The truck reaches the weighbridge.

The weighbridge operator enters the recorded weight into the app.

A timestamp is captured.

Start of Unloading (Checkpoint 3)

The truck reaches the unloading area.

Supervisor logs the start of unloading via the app.

A timestamp is recorded.

Start of Loading (Checkpoint 4) (Applicable only if the truck is loading material)

The truck reaches the loading area.

Supervisor logs the start of loading via the app.

A timestamp is recorded.

Exit from Factory Premises (Checkpoint 5)

Security logs the truck’s exit.

The final timestamp is recorded.

System Implementation Approach:

The system should be designed for cost-effectiveness, avoiding GPS tracking since the trucks are not company-owned. Below are the implementation options:

1. QR Code-Based Tracking (Preferred Approach)

Each checkpoint (Entry, Weighbridge, Unloading, Loading, Exit) will have a printed QR code.

The driver or a security/staff member scans the QR code upon reaching each checkpoint using the app.

The system logs the timestamp and relevant details automatically.

This is a low-cost, efficient, and scalable solution.

2. Manual Entry-Based Tracking (Alternative Approach)

Instead of QR codes, a designated supervisor manually logs truck entries at each checkpoint via a mobile app.

The staff selects the truck ID, enters the weight at the weighbridge, and timestamps the truck’s movement.

This approach requires strict manual discipline but minimizes additional hardware costs.

3. RFID-Based Tracking (For Greater Automation)

Trucks receive disposable RFID tags at the factory entry.

RFID readers at each checkpoint automatically log the truck’s movement.

This reduces human dependency but requires investment in RFID readers and tags.

Key Features of the Application:

*User Roles: Security personnel, weighbridge operators, supervisors, and admin (refinery owner).* Truck Registration: Enter truck number, driver details, and cargo type at entry.*Checkpoint Logging: Timestamps recorded when the truck reaches each checkpoint.* Weighbridge Integration: Manual weight entry by the operator or potential automation.* Reports & Analytics: Track truck turnaround time, detect delays, and generate efficiency reports.* Multi-User Access: Ensure security guards, weighbridge operators, and supervisors have controlled access.* Alerts & Notifications: Alert refinery managers if a truck is delayed at any checkpoint.

Technology & Development Considerations:

Mobile App: Cross-platform (React Native/Flutter) for iOS & Android compatibility.

Database: Cloud-based database (Firebase/PostgreSQL) to store truck logs.

Backend: Node.js/Django-based backend for managing logs and reports.

QR Code Scanner API: For scanning QR codes at checkpoints.

User Authentication: Secure login with role-based access.

Minimal Investment & Cost Optimization Approach:

No GPS tracking → Using QR codes or manual entry instead.

No truck-mounted hardware → Only mobile-based logging.

No expensive software licensing → Cloud-hosted, lightweight app.

Potential future upgrades → RFID-based automation as an optional extension.

Expected Deliverables:

Mobile Application (Android & iOS)

Web Dashboard (Optional) for detailed reporting & analytics

Database & Backend Setup

Admin Panel for user management and report generation

Basic Training & Documentation for staff usage

Conclusion:

This mobile application will streamline vehicle tracking at the soybean refinery, ensuring greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability with minimal investment. The QR code-based or manual entry system will serve as a practical alternative to GPS tracking, reducing costs while achieving operational control.
