Build a Cross platform (iOS & Android) mobile app utilizing Geolocation and Push Notifications -- 2
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
We are looking for an experienced mobile app and Google maps API developer to continue working on an existing app. The I Love Black People Safe Places app is a cross-platform mobile application deployed on the iOS and Android stores. We need the app's engagement and performance/responsiveness to be improved with the goal of seeing organic growth and user retention. The app should encourage people to share safe places/businesses for Black people and invite their friends to use it (organic growth). We are at the crowdsourcing stage, so the main focus of the app is to get recommendations/shares of Black-friendly places for now.
The app is meant to rapidly scale the number of people signing up to become I Love Black People Members as well as provide and receive Black-friendly/Black-owned business recommendations based on their current and recent geolocations.
The app should send frequent notifications of businesses close by enquiring if they are Black-friendly. The notifications are also a key requirement for this app
-----
The major issues to be fixed:
- Performance issues. Too many renders happening when loading businesses on the map. More investigation on this and beyond need to be made to optimize the app
- load businesses in order of proximity as opposed to categories. Logic on code used to load businesses on the map needs update to reflect this
- ensure all relevant business in relation to business categories get loaded on the map
- User Experience contribution. Developer should have the capacity to sugggest and implement industry standard UX practices as opposed to expecting to be instructed on user experience by us
- Session control needs to be reviewed and improved to ensure users data can be retrieved when they login to different devices
----
Current tech stack:
- React Native (I'm open to advice on whether this is good moving forward)
- Connects to external FastAPI
- Google Maps API
- React Native Background Geolocation SDK for iOS & Android (https://www.transistorsoft.com/shop/products/react-native-background-geolocation)
- Firebase
Download and review the app on iOS and Android to give feedback: https://www.iloveblackpeople.com/app
Communication is super important, I need someone who's fluent in English and able to effectively communicate their work on daily standup
