Itinerary generation in Word via 'Mail Merge'
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I need to be able to generate a travel itinerary from a SQL database - where the user would enter the itinerary number and the process would generate a mail merge from a template with the dynamic content from the SQL store.
There are some fixed "template" parts (the same for every itinerary) and some that's dynamic based on the content.
I've tried myself with standard Microsoft Mail Merge, and got parts generated, but can't seem to pull it all together well.
If it can all be done as one with a MailMerge then great. If it needs VBA, Python, or similar that's also OK - but the fixed parts would still need to be easily (or fairly easily) editable - e.g. to add and remove core pictures, adjust font, etc.
I've generated a sample itinerary in Excel - attached, and a guided example of the output (with some of the mail merge code I generated). We have direct access to the SQL database, so can reformat the feed to anything we want - i.e. that makes the mail merge process easier.
Would want the code and some instructions on how to execute it.
If it's easily user-generated (e.g. they come in, key in the itinerary ID, and it generates the word doc,) then that's cool.
We can also have it run as a batch / power automate script - we have the ability to set that up (or shout out if you do).
It doesn't need to be perfect - I just need someone to build out the core of the thing!
