Fix Microsoft Word TOC Errors
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have an existing Microsoft Word document (RPAS Operations Manual) with an established structure and formatting already in place. It is 48 pages.
The Table of Contents is currently displaying:
2 x “Error! Bookmark not defined.”
This is due to broken internal bookmarks (_Toc references) after edits were made.
Scope of Work
The successful freelancer must:
• Analyse the current document structure
• Review existing custom styles (e.g. “Section Heading”)
• Check and correct Outline Levels where required
• Rebuild or correctly reconfigure the Table of Contents
• Regenerate internal bookmarks properly
• Ensure all TOC links function correctly
• Preserve all existing formatting, numbering and layout
Critical Requirement
Under no circumstances is this document to be recreated from scratch.
• Do NOT rebuild the document.
• Do NOT copy/paste into a new file.
• Do NOT manually hyperlink TOC entries.
• Do NOT alter formatting unless absolutely required for structural correction.
This is a structural repair only — not a redesign or reformatting project.
Expected Timeframe
This should take:
• 30–60 minutes for someone experienced in Microsoft Word document structure and fields.
