Create an index thumb (Bible) tab in Microsoft word book

I have a book written with Microsoft word. It's approximately 450 pages. I need the chapters and timeline separated via thumb tabs. I've attempted to do so without great success. I need a professional with experience. As such. The thumb tabs should separate the major chapters and a historic timeline which is encompassed in the text. This is an advanced Microsoft office project.
