Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) Developer who has hands-on expertise in migrating reports from SSRS to Power BI. The ideal candidate should be able to explain the different migration scenarios, including straightforward conversions and complex edge cases.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze existing SSRS reports and assess the feasibility of migration to Power BI.
Explain all possible migration scenarios, including direct conversions and challenging edge cases.
Identify differences in functionalities between SSRS and Power BI, such as paginated reports, interactivity, and data sources.
Provide insights on potential limitations and workarounds when transitioning from SSRS to Power BI.
Share knowledge on best practices for optimizing Power BI reports post-migration.
Guide on handling embedded SSRS reports, subscriptions, parameters, and drill-through functionalities in Power BI.
Have experience with Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) and how it differs from SSRS and Power BI Service.
Discuss security and role-based access differences between SSRS and Power BI.
Must have experience with SSRS Report Builder, SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), and Power BI Service/Desktop.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Strong expertise in SSRS and Power BI with a focus on migration strategies.
Understanding of Power BI APIs and integration possibilities.
Knowledge of SQL Server, DAX, M Query (Power Query), and Power BI Dataflows.
Experience with embedded reports and report subscriptions.
Ability to articulate migration challenges and propose feasible solutions.
Project Scope:
The developer will be required to discuss real-world migration scenarios, not just theoretical approaches.
Provide guidance on converting complex SSRS reports to Power BI.
Share insights on data sources, authentication methods, and report refresh mechanisms in Power BI.
Suggest best practices for performance optimization and maintainability post-migration.
