MS Outlook 2016 on Windows PC Issue

Cannot point MS Outlook to .ost file. When editing or creating a new profile, MS Outlook creates a .pst file and not receiving incoming or outgoing emails in Outlook. My old profile is Karen Boyer and a new one I created is Karen E Boyer. Both have the same problem. (My iphone email and web email, i.e. through Yahoo work correctly).
