Replacing webserver with exchange server

I currently have a webmail server online , i implemented exchange and created the users via the domain controller on the exchange and made the sender connector ready .
I want someone to help me move from the mail to the new mail and make it online .
I have access to the DNS server and we can change the records as we want i tried to do it but didn't work i am missing something that i don't know ?
