SharePoint Engineering Document Management System Setup

We are looking for an experienced freelancer to support the setup and configuration of an Engineering Document Management System (EDMS) using Microsoft SharePoint / Microsoft 365 Business Standard.

Project Overview

We already have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription and want to develop a professional engineering document management environment with a user experience and workflow similar to systems such as:

ProArc
Teamcenter
Other engineering DMS / EDMS platforms

The system will be used for managing engineering and manufacturing documentation, including drawings, datasheets, vendor documents, calculations, procedures, and revision-controlled project documentation.

Scope of Work

The freelancer will support with:

SharePoint site architecture and setup
Engineering document library structure
Metadata and document classification
Revision and version control workflows
Approval and transmittal workflows
Access permissions and user roles
Search and filtering functionality
Dashboard/interface customization
Integration within Microsoft 365 environment
Recommendations for best practices for engineering documentation management
Desired Features

We are aiming for an interface and workflow style similar to professional EDMS systems, including:

Clean engineering-style document interface
Revision tracking
Document status control (Issued for Review, Approved, As-Built, etc.)
Tagging and metadata management
Fast document retrieval
Project-based folder/document structure
Controlled workflows and approvals
Preferred Skills
Strong experience with SharePoint Online
Experience with engineering document control systems
Knowledge of ProArc, Teamcenter, Autodesk Vault, Aconex, or similar platforms
Microsoft Power Automate / Power Apps experience is an advantage
Understanding of engineering document numbering and revision systems
