Problem creating a Microsoft 365 Group

I need help creating a Microsoft 365 group. I had a distribution group with the email address manager at website.com. I deleted it. Now I am trying to create a M365 group with the same email address but it says it's in use. You need to be able to guide me how to search for this conflict so that I can remove it.
