I need a raspberry pi expert

I have raspberry pi as a front end for a gaming image which I downloaded and flashed onto an sd card. When I insert the sd card into a handheld console unit, however, I have no sound. The image loads and works, just no sound at all. I have tried altering config txt and tinkered with the sound settings in raspberry pi, all to no avail. Can anyone help?
