Need programming done for ESP8266 boards
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m imaging using ESP8266 boards with WiFi. Open to suggestions for other boards.
I need a way to turn video games on and off free play. The old way is to manually open each machine and flip dipswitches, or get into the menu and enable free play. Then you have to do the reverse when it’s over. Very clunky and time consuming and not user friendly.
Additionally, many classic games came with NO free play setting at all. This is a real bitch.
So the idea is how do we create a system that is remote, that allows all games to be put into and taken out of free play simultaneously, and that works no matter the original settings of the game.
There is a board (I’ll send you the link) that was developed specifically for the games that had no free play setting. It works by taking a button (say punch or kick or start or whatever) and allowing that button to add credits to the machine, but with a time out feature. Meaning, until the button is not pressed for a preset amount of time, the board will not add any credits. The button will function normally. After the time elapse, it will add credits and restart the timer. I like this method because it works across any machine. This is basically what we would want the arduino boards to do. Keep in mind, the coin switch that will be pulsed is 5v normally closed. The buttons to be pressed are normally open. Not sure if this matters
Let me know if you think this is even possible, how hard it would be, and how much you might charge for something like this
Deliverables
Probably small website to control boards and ability to tweak each program slightly for individual games
