NRF52840 Microcontroller Bluetooth LE Protocol Development
Budget: $30 – $250 NZD
This is a specific section of a project to take sensor data to make sounds through a DAW (digital Audio Workstation). I have been successful in using example code for the sensors I currently have purchased. I now need this information to transfer to a PC with minimal latency. I am open to discussion of my current plan, understanding latency reduction and compatibility with common wireless signals is desired. I am so far using C++ or the IDE equivalents as my understanding is this will have the lowest latency.
This job is for the task of setting up the BLE architecture for use with the project as a whole, not for full project development. Please include in your budget communication with me asking queries to make sure that my information regarding latency is correct, and whether there is a better protocol available.
My current level of knowledge has led me to conclude that BLE transmitted using the benefits of the architecture will allow for multiple incoming communications in real time to the computer (or a microcontroller connected to the computer).
The initial application intention is 3 balls, each with a 9 DOF IMU (Direction of Freedom Inertial Measurement Unit), and 4 FSRs (Force Sensitive Resistors) (13 variables). My mock up so far has used the Adafruit nRF52840 microcontroller with the BNO055. I have been successful with reading values from the sensor, and with basic transmission (essentially UART with BLE). My understanding is using the capabilities of BLE architecture I will get reduced latency compared to my current wireless communication process. My understanding is using the capabilities of BLE architecture will make reception of multiple transmitters more feasible.
In the very long term if successful, ideally the framework developed will have capability to be utilised for other sensor setups including more sensors per microcontroller, and more microcontrollers. Ideally this would not have a significant effect on latency.
I have been considering this project without being able to get past software hurdles in my learning for a period of time. Therefore some of my information may be outdated. I am open to discussion of suggested more modern hardware, or alternative software approaches that align with the long term project goals. Please include discussion of these aspects in your costings.
