We need a data diode system designed and built by you. You may provide the hardware also or we shall. If not specified by you, we shall assume your bid is turnkey. Specify the hardware costs separately. If not, we assume 15% is for hardware. Use .NET 6 core, any thing else will need approval by us. Below is our idea, However, we like you to propose other ideas/solutions as a professional. Put these under section SUGGESTIONS in your response.
Data Diode is an appliance type of unidirectional gateway, which is a combination of hardware and software. The hardware permits data to flow from one network to another, but is physically unable to send any information at all back into the source network. The software replicates databases and emulates protocol servers to handle bi-directional communication. Data Diodes are capable of transferring multiple data types and protocols simultaneously. The technology is used to enforce one-way communications outbound from critical digital systems to untrusted networks connected to the internet. The physical nature of unidirectional networks only allows data to pass from one side of a network connection to another and not the other way around [ from the "low side" (untrusted network) to the "high side" (trusted network) or vice versa].
Software Implementation:
- Need to be able to accept transmission of most communication protocols.
- the external systems should not feel any detectable latency, so appear transparent.
- Assurance of data accuracy and consistency over its entire life-cycle
- Forward Error Correction (FEC) (allows the receiver the ability to correct errors without needing a reverse channel to request retransmission of data)
- Secure Communication via TLS (transport layer security)
- Build-in Firewall Security (to filter packets and prevent non data diode software from sending data to high side)
- Option for a specialized configuration to facilitate two-way data transfers while still providing hardware-enforced network segmentation
Hardware Implementation:
- Data diode is used to transmit data through fiber optic cable to the receiving side.
A 3D printed enclosure is desirable also. Specify the base hardware micro you will use, else we assume you will use some pre-built hardware like RPi for the hardware.
Your bid includes all the designs, schematics, source codes any dependencies, supporting documents, user manuals, hardware to be delivered, training to transfer know-how that went into this, all editable and upgradable by us. Payment will be made on milestones, as mutually agreed (specify in response). Milestone payments made after acceptance by us of everything done till that date. If not specified, only 1 payment will be made after our accepted completion.
