BLDC Motor Controller Development with FOC on PIC18F
Budget: $30 – $85 USD
Development of BLDC Motor Controller with FOC Using PIC18 and XC8
I am looking for an embedded systems developer to design and implement a Brushless DC (BLDC) motor controller using Field Oriented Control (FOC). The controller must respond to position commands sent via serial communication and operate with high precision and stability.
Project specifications:
Control technique: Field Oriented Control (FOC)
Microcontroller: PIC18 family
Preferably PIC18F46K22 or PIC18F46Q43
Development environment: C language using XC8 compiler on MPLAB X
Position sensor: AS5600 magnetic encoder (I2C interface)
Communication interface: UART (for receiving target position commands)
PWM outputs: Required for driving the motor phases
Additional requirements:
Closed-loop control for accurate positioning
Real-time reading and processing of the absolute angle from the AS5600
Noise resilience and reliable position detection
Well-structured and commented code
Control logic must be efficient and suitable for real-time applications
Expected deliverables:
Complete and functional source code (in XC8)
Technical documentation, including algorithm flowcharts and peripheral configuration
Build and deployment instructions
Basic support for initial setup (via documentation or email)
The solution will be used in industrial or assistive device applications, so the algorithm must be optimized for robustness and reliability.
