GTM, Step.io & Meta Pixel Integration Expert
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Project Title:
Advanced Meta Pixel & Step.io Integration with GTM for Full CAPI Tracking (Pixel-Based Plan)
---
Overview:
We're seeking a highly skilled developer with hands-on expertise in Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager (GTM), and Step.io, particularly with Conversions API Gateway using the pixel-based billing model. The objective is to build a complete dual-source event tracking pipeline—browser and server—with deduplication and advanced customer data matching, in full compliance with Meta’s technical documentation.
Scope of Work:
1. Meta Data Set Configuration:
Set up or reconfigure a Meta Data Set inside Events Manager.
Integrate two event sources:
Browser events via GTM.
Server-side events via Step.io Gateway.
Generate and document all necessary tokens and credentials.
2. Google Tag Manager Implementation:
Install and configure Meta Pixel using GTM.
Enable standard events: PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, Purchase, etc.
Pass key identifiers with each event:
event_id, fbc, fbp, user_agent, IP, timestamp, language, etc.
Enable and pass Advanced Matching parameters:
SHA256-hashed email, phone, name, country, zip, city, DOB (if available).
3. Step.io – Server-Side Tracking via Gateway:
Use the Gateway method (not container) to connect Step.io directly to Meta.
Ensure the same Meta Data Set is used for server events.
Mirror browser events on the server, using the same event_id for deduplication.
Use Step’s pixel-count plan (not event-count based).
Integrate Gateway with landing page or e-commerce backend properly.
4. Deduplication Setup:
Ensure the same event_id is used across both GTM and Step.io events.
Enable deduplication in Events Manager.
Confirm events are merged correctly (browser + server) without double counting.
5. Advanced Matching:
Follow Meta’s latest schema for customer data fields:
em, ph, fn, ln, ct, st, zip, country, fbc, fbp.
Apply SHA256 hashing where required.
Send extra identifiers (device type, language, user agent, IP, timestamp) for better match quality.
---
Deliverables:
1. GTM browser event tracking fully configured and tested.
2. Step.io Gateway server tracking integrated to the same Data Set.
3. Deduplication logic fully implemented and verified.
4. Advanced Matching parameters handled securely and accurately.
5. Meta Events Manager shows unified events from browser + server.
6. Clear documentation outlining each step of the setup.
---
Required Expertise:
Extensive experience in Google Tag Manager and Meta Pixel setups.
Strong practical experience using Step.io Gateway (pixel plan).
Familiarity with Meta Data Set structure and CAPI deduplication.
Knowledge of advanced matching, data hashing, and debugging Meta Events Manager.
---
Provided Access:
Full admin access to Meta Business Manager, GTM, Step.io, and Gateway.
All tokens, domains, and pixel IDs are ready.
Subdomain for events already configured and linked.
---
