WordPress & MERN Stack Senior Engineer
Budget: $20,000 – $50,000 USD
I need an expert who can move quickly on two tightly-linked fronts. On the WordPress side, the job is to reshape an existing site through deep theme customization, build or extend a set of bespoke plugins, and wire in several third-party API integrations without breaking performance or SEO.
At the same time, the project’s MERN component already has a solid React front-end and a working codebase; what it lacks is a seasoned hand on the backend (Node.js + Express). Your first tasks will be to audit the current repository, isolate pain points, then design and code new services that connect cleanly to both MongoDB and the WordPress layer.
Because the schedule is tight, I expect you to come in with strong knowledge of PHP, WordPress hooks, Gutenberg, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, REST / GraphQL, Git workflows and CI/CD. Clear, maintainable code and proactive communication are non-negotiable.
Deliverables (all must be met for acceptance):
• Customised WordPress theme deployed to production, pixel-perfect to design.
• New/updated plugins with documented hooks and filters.
• Stable API integrations fully tested end-to-end.
• Refactored Node.js/Express backend modules with unit tests and deployment scripts.
• Concise technical documentation covering setup, build, and handover.
